31st March - English tasks (4th ESO B)

Hi again.


In this lesson, we'll continue working and revising concepts in the computers room.

First, we're going to correct the translation of the text titled "Alcohol" from this webpage, together with the activities you were doing during the previous lesson. It will be a whole group activity, so please don't forget to bring your notebooks with the tasks and all your doubts written down!


This time, you're going to revise two main issues which we've already seen in class:

• Passive voice (yes, I know you really love it...).
• Present, past and future tenses.

Remember that it's important to copy in your notebooks the activities and the solutions, translating into Spanish to revise also vocabulary. You'll work in groups, for you to cooperate and revise things with your mates, and of course you can ask me your doubts.

It's similar to the TV programme Who wants to be millionaire?, with questions, several answers to choose and points. 
• http://www.saberingles.com.ar/exercises/201.html --> This activity is similar to the previous one, because you'll revise present simple, past simple and future with will. The sentences are ordered and you just have to complete the chart with the correct form of the verb in brackets.

It's simply AMAZING because you can see videos by many people talking in English: they are German, Chinese, Canadian, Portuguese, Brazilian, British, Italian... so you can listen to many foreign accents. If you click on the "CC" button, the subtitles will appear. In this way, you'll practise listening and reading at the same time ;)

The videos are about many topics. For instance:

• Are you happy where you live right now? (see this video)
• What is your favourite country? (see this video)
• What can you do for hours? (see this video)

You can have a look at these webpages at home beforehand, and whenever you want to practise your English.

30th March - English tasks (4th ESO B)

Hello everyone.


You already know that this day we are going to work in the computers classroom. I want you to revise concepts for the following exam, which is a revision of eveything we've seen during the second term. In order to make this task more entartaining (I hope so), you're going to work in groups with some webpages. 

These are the tasks:

1. http://www.listenaminute.com/ --> In groups, you must look for a text titled "Alcohol". I like this webpage because you can also listen to the text while you're reading it (so please don't forget to bring your headphones!). Using a dictionary, you have to translate the text and do the activities in your notebooks. We'll correct these exercises the following day. Now, if you've finished this task, why don't you try with the second one? :)
2. http://ntic.educacion.es/w3//eos/MaterialesEducativos/mem2001/ienglish/index.html --> In this "interactive book", you can revise many ideas. If you click on Menu + Easy Level or Intermediate Level, you will have access to activities related to the passive voice, present and future tenses, etc. You have to take notes of the exercises in your notebooks, for you to study at home. Please ask me your doubts if you've got some questions!

El compromiso de los alumnos de 1º ESO A

Son muchas las veces que los alumnos de 1º A sufren escuchan mis regañinas consejos sobre la importancia del buen comportamiento, tanto en clase como fuera de ella: hay que ser buena persona, con compañeros, profesores, amigos, familiares, vecinos, etc.

¿De qué os sirve ser inteligentes si no sois ordenados con vuestras tareas? ¿De qué os sirve repasar diariamente cada asignatura si no preguntáis las dudas en clase? ¿Y sacar buenas notas si no sois capaces de trabajar en grupo, o de ayudar a un compañero?

Este año, nos ha tocado compartir muchas horas a la semana, así que es necesario que pongamos en práctica valores como el respeto, la colaboración, la ayuda, el esfuerzo, etc.

Y qué mejor manera de demostrar ese compromiso que haciendo un póster enorme con todas vuestras sugerencias, con todos vuestros mensajes positivos, para que la clase vaya mejor y, en definitiva, para que día tras día intentéis ser mejores personas.

The English Corner

Casi desde principios de curso, tenía en mente la idea de que los alumnos de 4º ESO B diseñaran un póster para las clases de inglés: The English Corner.

El objetivo era, y es, fomentar su participación en clase, sobre todo las exposiciones orales sobre sus propios trabajos. Se trata de una manera amena de soltarse a la hora de hablar en público (controlando los nervios, preparando un par de frases, los gestos, etc.) y de expresar sus propias ideas y experiencias sobre las actividades que realizan para esta asignatura.

Obviamente, no es fácil hablar delante de todos los compañeros usando un idioma extranjero. Por eso quiero felicitar desde aquí a todos aquellos que trabajan con esfuerzo sus destrezas orales (tanto listening como speaking), a los que escriben composiciones voluntarias, a los que piensan cómo se dice tal o cual frase en inglés, a los que olvidan la vergüenza para participar y aprender más en clase, que se enfrentan a textos y trabajan con el diccionario, que pasan horas y horas buscando información en internet y diseñando llamativos proyectos... A todos los que estáis escribiendo el Journal o diario de la asignatura, que sepáis que os va a ayudar (y mucho) a reflexionar y a ver vuestra propia madurez.

Todavía quedan muchos momentos y muchos trabajos que plasmar en este póster, pero está quedando muy bonito :)

Se trata de un anuncio magnífico en el que aparecen muchos de los lugares escondidos de esta provincia. Y ni que decir tiene su buena gente, por supuesto :)

A good language teacher...
